I adore this place! The only place to get Hackney's onion rings- best thing ever! Burgers are amazing, good waiters and waitresses, best bar for so many types of upscale i.port beers ( also cocktails and tap)...but it is, hands down, The Place to for for St. Patrick's day! Reservations are almost necessary, and make them super early- it gets to be pure chaos ( the fun kind). Went for my St. Pat's day drinking and of course, corned beef and cabbage, the day before and was already a crowded party in there. Great for family's and all ages! One of my fav places to go!
Always bring friends here when they are in town. Love the Hackneyburger!! I even had then cater an event, an assortment of party trays, including medallion size Hackney Cheeseburgers. A party hit!
A Glenview & Chicagoland institution. Amazing burgers and famous for their brick onion rings. Tip: order the onion rings & put on almost anything on the menu. The “big house” this one has the class and charm of an English manor & tavern all rolled into one. Very senior citizen, handicapped, and family friendly. The staff is incredibly kind and efficient. They offer live Irish/British music occasionally and it’s quite a treat! Been going here for decades and hope to continued for much more. Passed the hackney bug down to my kids. They all tale their family here for great dinners
My family has celebrated St. Patrick’s Day for three generations and we will keep coming back. Great food, great staff, and the best bag pipers and celebration!
The ambience is cozy, beautiful dark wood and lovely, if old fashioned, decor. The food selection is fairly extensive for a pub. The service is fantastic. Mostly recently we came on a day they said they didn’t have enough staff because they thought it would be slow. We braved ourselves for slow service and a frantic server. Instead our server was perfect - efficient with our drinks and food but happy to linger for a little small talk or answer our questions. Friendly in a way that felt genuine. Felt like what I think of as real Chicago service, not trendy, too-cool service. They serve their burgers and Reuben’s on house-made dark rye bread (regular buns are available if you prefer). I’ve not been able to find good quality rye anymore, as even a dark rye at Whole Foods or jewel tastes similar to white now. But Hackney’s rye is perfect. My husband ordered the turkey burger which was also quite good. Moist and simple. They serve Homer’s ice cream for dessert - a true Chicagoland staple. And the beers! I love a good German beer so I always get the Hofbrau but they have other good selections too.
Their burgers are fantastic. The atmosphere and service are top notch. We had a group of 13 and everything went smoothly.
Hackney's on Lake Street is a northshore classic! They have so many rooms and so much space for eating that it is always easy to stop in here and grab some great homemade food. We had the hamburger as well as reuben sandwich and their french fries were crispy and light. Ofcourse a trip would not be complete without having one of their onion loafs and this one definitely did not disappoint! Great food, great service!
I dined here for the first time for a lunch meeting and was pleased with everything. The private room was perfect for my group. They gave us a short menu of four items for everyone to choose from and the choices were wonderful, something for everyones tastes. I will absolutely recommend coming back for our future meetings.
